XVIth International CBRN Symposium
XVIth International CBRN Symposium will take place in Shrivenham campus on 5-6 November 2013.
The Defence Academy of the United Kingdom at Shrivenham is hosting the annual International CBRN Symposium from 5 to 6 November 2013. The timing of this year’s event, the Sixteenth in the series held under the auspices of CBRN-UK, could not be more pertinent as it marks the United Kingdom’s Chairmanship of the G8 and specifically of the Global Partnership (GP).
This XVI International CBRN Symposium will consider the current status of international CBRN cooperation under the GP’s agreed four priorities, which are all closely aligned with Britain’s National Security Strategy:
- nuclear security
- biological security
- scientist engagement in the WMD field
- implementation of United Nations Security Council Resolution 1540 (a resolution obliging states to implement a range of domestic measures against WMD terrorism)
International experts in each of these fields have been invited to give an overview of their collaborative efforts whilst others have been invited to describe what additional assistance they believe should be available. Consideration will be given as to how International Organisations and Governments can work more closely together and with industry to ensure that the necessary capabilities are available to those that require them. Finally, there will be an opportunity for industry to brief on the latest technologies that are being developed to support CBRN counter proliferation and protection.
